One of the most newly born India State comprises Himalayas and the some of the Most HOLY HINDU SHRINES i.e. BADRINATH, KEDARNATH,GANGOTRI,YAMONTRI It's Heaven for adventure seeker whether it's trekking, white water rafting or jungle safari or spiritual upliftment through Yoga / Meditaion. As well as the first National Park of India - CORBETT NATIONAL PARK , situated here.

The earliest historical references to the region are found in the Vedas, Purans to the purity of the Himalayas. Specific mention of the mountains exists in the Mahabharata, dated to about 1000 BC, when the protagonists of the epic, the Pandavas, are said to have ended their life on earth by ascending the slopes of a peak in western Garhwal called Swargarohini - literally, the 'Ascent to Heaven'. The epic also mentions this region as the home of the Kirata, Pulinda and Tangara tribes.

HARIDWAR
Haridwar - the top most holy spiritual place in India. It is believed that when the Gods left their footprints on the land of Haridwar, metaphorically they also left an indelible mark on the spiritual etho- of every Hindu- more so, the devout, who ( would later follow their holy paths all across this blessed land. It has earned it's sobriquet of honor as 'The Gateway to The Gods'.

Haridwar is not only famous as holy place but also for it's ever-refreshing mystic venue which purifies our mind, body and soul in real manner. Main events which have gained real popularity here are memorable Kumbh Mela which happens once every 12 years and the Ardh Kumbh Mela, which comes once every 6 years.

Haridwar as being one of the oldest living cities of India, finds it's mention in the ancient Hindu scriptures such a "Holy Veda's". Haridwar has not only remained the abode of the weary in body, mind and spirit but also served as a center of attraction for many peoples for learning the art, science and culture.

Haridwar has earned fame as being the place which has been blessed by the trinity of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma. It is also one of the major Shaktipeeths. Down the ages, Haridwar has purified the mind, the body and the soul. Not only in spiritual or religious terms Haridwar has come up as a major learning center for arts, science and culture. This place has maintained the Gurukul tradition of teaching. This ancient tradition of teaching has maintained its fervour in Haridwar.

RISHIKESH
According to mythology, the sage Raibhya Rishi sat on the banks of the Ganga and performed severe penance. He was rewarded when the lord appeared in the form of Rishikesh, thus giving the place its present name. Over the ages, saints have meditated at this peaceful spot with the soaring mountains looking down and the sacred Ganga flowing beside. One of the most prominent religious leaders in modern times, Adi Shankaracharya, traversed this land in the 9th century AD. The Shankaracharya's pilgrimage into the hills was later codified into the great pilgrim circuit, and gave a heightened sense of sacredness to this land of the gods. Ever since, Rishikesh has been the stepping stone and the first destination on a list of holy shrines and sites stretching across the lofty Himalayas. The Triveni Ghat, in the enter of town is the most prominent bathing ghat in Rishikesh. With its modern images of Hindu deities and white sandy beach, the ghat is ideal for a dip in the holy waters of the Ganga.

The Bharat Mandir near Triveni Ghat is reputed to be the oldest temple in Rishikesh. The temple's presiding deity is a black stone Vishnu, which is believed to have been consecrated by Adi Shankaracharya when he visited Rishikesh in the 9th century. This occasion is commemorated with special celebrations on the day of Basant Panchami, the spring festival.

Swarg Ashram, with its numerous ashrams, food stalls and shops is a haunt for those looking for insights into religious themes. The newly constructed Ram Jhoola straddles the Ganga at this point. You can also make a river crossing on the ferries that run during the day. Important shrines and ashrams at Swarg Ashram include Kali Kumbliwale founded by Swami Vishudhananda, Parmarth Niketan with large statues of gods and goddesses and the Gita Bhavan with its Ayurvedic dispensary and shop selling religious books and cotton Khadi.

MUSSOORIE
The hill resort of Mussoorie is often referred to as the "Queen of the Hills". Any tourist who experiences the magic of the hill resort will but agree with the sobriquet. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, Mussoorie gets its name from the Mansur shrub that is commonly seen in the hill resort. The marvelous hill resort of Mussoorie is located in the foothills of the Himalayas. The hill station of Mussoorie is one of the most-loved tourist destinations of India. It has a number of waterfalls, picnic-spots, temples and tourist bungalows.

NAINITAL
According to an ancient belief, Nainital was the site where one of Parvati's eyes fell. When Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva, the Hindu Destroyer of the Universe, died, Shiva was filled with grief and carried her corpse wherever he went. Parts of Parvati's body fell on Earth, and her eye fell in Nainital, forming a large crater that became Naini Lake. In fact, Naini Lake derives its name from the Hindi word, naina, which means 'eye'.

Discovery of Nainital
Nainital remained 'undiscovered' till 1839, when a sugar maker called P Barron found the huge lake amidst forested mountains. Following an intuition, Barron met the local chief, and tried to convince him to relinquish his claim on the region. But Barron had to handle this cleverly.
He took the chief for a boat ride on the lake, and offered him two options: either he give up Nainital, or drown in the lake. The chief's common sense prevailed, and he signed a deed right then, abdicating his control over Nainital. The British built villas around the lake, and made Nainital their summer capital, along with Mussoorie.

CORBETT NATIONAL PARK
Is located in the patlidun valley at the base of the Himalayas , Corbett was established in 1936 as the hailey National park.India 's first national park and the first sanctuary to come under Project Tiger ,Corbett supports a variety vegetation making it he ideal habitat for the tiger and its prey. It is spread into 520 square kilometer .
